The EuroJackpot lottery is a transnational European lottery that was first drawn in 2012 and was launched as an alternative to EuroMillions. The idea was to create a lottery that paid out more often, cost less, and therefore would be more appealing to lottery players.

What is the EuroJackpot jackpot amount?

EuroJackpot is a pan-European lottery game that attracts millions of players from all around the world. Initially, six countries participated in the initial draw in March 2012 with a German player having won €19.5 million in the draw on the 11th May 2012 to become the game’s first jackpot winner. The game's success quickly piqued the interest of others, and there are now 18 countries involved. Thankfully, you too can participate in the EuroJackpot thanks to the internet and PlayHugeLottos.com.

History of the Jackpot Cap

The EuroJackpot used to have a rollover limit of 12. This meant that the jackpot could only roll 12 times in a row where the jackpot was not won. If no one matched all five main numbers and both Euro numbers in the following draw, the prize would roll down into the next prize tier containing winners.

However, due to the fact that the jackpot only increased to €27.5 million after reaching its consecutive rollover limit, the limit was withdrawn in February 2013 and replaced with a jackpot cap of €90 million.

In 2022, the jackpot cap increased from €90 million to a whopping €120 million.

When did EuroJackpot first reach the €90 Million jackpot cap?

On the 12th of May, 2015, a lucky player from the Czech Republic broke the EuroJackpot record by winning the €90,000,000.00 jackpot. This was the first time that the jackpot cap was won in the game's brief history.

The EuroJackpot lottery's minimum starting jackpot is €10 million. This means that even if there are fewer than €10 million worth of tickets (which is highly unlikely) the jackpot will still be set at this figure.

What Happens When Eurojackpot Reaches €120 Million?

Any additional cash collected from ticket sales that would have been added to the jackpot when it reaches its maximum value of €120 million are transferred to the second prize tier. The payout for matching (5) five main numbers and two Euro numbers will then be frozen at €120 million until it is won, while any remaining jackpot prize money will then be diverted to the next prize tier (Match 5).

When does the EuroJackpot draw take place?

The EuroJackpot is drawn every Tuesday and Friday at 19:00 (CET) from Helsinki, Finland. And the results will be posted on this page shortly after.

EuroJackpot FAQ’s

Do I have to match the EuroJackpot winning numbers in the precise sequence that they were drawn?

The EuroJackpot winning numbers do not have to be matched in the precise numerical sequence that they are drawn.

The EuroJackpot winning numbers are drawn at random during the EuroJackpot draw and for your convenience, the EuroJackpot winning numbers are placed in numerical order following each EuroJackpot draw, as they appear on your ticket.

In the EuroJackpot, how many numbers are used?

Just like its European counterpart EuroMillions, the EuroJackpot features two draw machines with two separate pools of numbers. Players need to choose five numbers from the first pool ranging from 1 to 50 and two numbers from the second pool (Euro numbers) ranging from 1 to 12. As the Euro numbers are drawn from a separate ball machine, it’s possible to have the same number as both a main number and Euro number.
