The Lucky Bonsai Tree

Some people say that “dynamite comes in small packages”, well perhaps LUCK also comes in small packages. When it comes to ‘small’ it doesn’t get much smaller than the amazing Bonsai trees. Will your luck explode with the help of these tiny trees?

The Bonsai is a carefully cultivated ‘dwarf’ tree that has many connotations with luck and good fortune, hence they also go by the names of “Money Tree” and “Good Fortune Tree”. Bonsai’s themselves come in many different types and species but they all share one similar trait that gives them their name, they are miniature.

Will these amazing trees sprout leaves of luck for lottery players? Let’s take a deeper look at these amazing lucky symbols:

•    Bonsai trees are popular in the Eastern art of Feng Shui where they are believed to bring luck and abundance to those who display them in their home.

•    Although the earliest proof of the bonsai can be found in the tomb of Prince Zhang Huai, of the Tang Dynasty (618 - 907 A.D.) it is believed that these trees may date back even further to the Han Dynasty (206 B.C. - 220 A.D.)

•    The trees were brought to Japan by Buddhist monks between 794 - 1191A.D. Bonsai quickly became associated with nobility as it was an art practised exclusively by the wealthy, perhaps helping to cultivate its association with luck related to money.

•    “Lucky bamboo” is a form of bonsai involving miniature, cultivated reeds of bamboo. The number of leaves that grow on the miniature stalks can determine the nature of the luck. 8 leaves is the number associated with wealth.

•    Bonsai trees that are acquired as a gift are considered luckier than those that are purchased directly.
