Most Shared Image On Facebook Is A Lotto Ticket

Nolan Daniels, a 35 year old software engineer, has created a stir on Facebook by posting a photo featuring him holding what turned out to be a fake “winning” Powerball lottery ticket. Find out more about this incredible story below.

On the 28th November the USA Powerball was offering a record breaking $580 million USD jackpot. News spread early the following day about the winners of this draw, it was revealed that the jackpot had been won by 2 lucky ticket holders, one ticket holder from the State of Arizona, the other from the State of Missouri.

Naughty Nolan Plays A Powerball Prank

Nolan Daniels decided to take advantage of the worldwide public curiosity about the identity of the winners by claiming to be one of them.

But that’s not all he claimed!

“Looks like I won’t be going to work EVER!!!! Share this photo and I will give a random person 1 million dollars!”

Taking things a step further Nolan promised to give $1 million of his lottery win to a random person who ‘shared’ the image of him with the winning lottery ticket on Facebook.

Fake Lottery Winner

As you can imagine this prompted widespread sharing of the image, in fact, it set a new record for the most shared image ever on Facebook. Within the space of just 3 days more than 2 million people shared the image of Nolan with his fake lottery ticket, all hoping for an incredible gift of $1 million USD.

Along with the shares there were over 27,000 comments, many from people who were wise to the fact that the image was fake (the giveaway being the fact that the numbers are not in sequence on the ticket).
