Luck Stuck Together For Powerball Winner

A man has recently won $1 million with the popular American lottery, US Powerball. The winner is from Des Moines, Iowa. The shocker of this particular lotto win story is that the winner almost lost the winning ticket in the process of claiming his massive prize. Read the full story.

The winner from Iowa is named Pete Kemp, and he managed to win $1 million Powerball prize on the lottery after he taped his torn ticket back together and managed to claim his prize.  His ticket was also nearly lost when he wanted to claim his winnings, but luckily, the lotto player was feeling very protective over his ticket, knowing that it was worth over $1 million!

Pete Kemp bought his lucky winning ticket for the US Powerball draw date on the 16th of May, Saturday. Pete’s ticket matched the first five numbers:

24-29-38-48 and 52

Pete just missed the Powerball number of 32. Seeing that Pete managed to match the first five main numbers, it put him into the second prize tier, awarding him a lovely $1 million.

After taxes were applied to his winnings, Pete took home $700,000. He said that this is without a doubt the largest lottery prize he has ever won, and much larger than he ever dreamed he could win. “I think the most I ever won was seven dollars,” he told reporters in Iowa while claiming his magnificent lotto prize.

A day after the big draw, Sunday, Mr. Kemp visited his local convenience store to get his lottery ticket checked. It was there that he discovered he had won one of the top prizes. But, because he was in a fluster as he processed the paperwork for him to present to the lottery officials, the clerk behind the counter accidentally threw away the ticket! How on earth could they have done that!

The Powerball winner said that he was already on his way to his car and was about to drive away when he realised his ticket was actually missing from his possessions. He ran back to the store panicking and asking to have his ticket back. In the process of being disposed, the ticket was also unfortunately torn in two! Luckily, for Mr. Kemp, he was able to retrieve it, tape it back together, and go to the lottery officials to explain his story and claim his prize.

At least Mr. Kemp made the effort to look after his ticket and fix things even after they went wrong, unlike a recent winner from Los Angeles who lost their winning ticket, and with it $1 million.

Mr. Kemp is aged 47 and said that most of his winnings will go towards his retirement. He does want to plan a big family celebration with his five children, however. “I think a celebration is in order, if we can get everybody together!” he laughed.

Congratulations to Pete Kemp, and we are very glad to hear that it all worked out in the end even after hitting a few bumpy spots in the road.

Never give up! You need to play regularly. Pete did, and he never gave up until his lucky day came to fruition.
