Singing all the way to the Bank – Lottery Winners Celebrate 20th Anniversary

The UK National Lottery celebrates its second decade of providing worldwide grand lottery wins.  The National Lotto has been responsible for making more millionaires the world over and stakes claim to being one of the oldest lottery games who are still a hugely successful force in the lottery industry.

Various locations across the UK have been used as sites to celebrate in various fashions.  Mostly the lottery used the opportunity to shine the spotlight on its philanthropic work and held the celebrations at various sites that received lottery funding in some form or another.  The lottery dedicates large portions of its winnings to uplifting the community and funds various projects and government institutions.  Of the organizations that receive aid – orphanages, retirement villages, art departments, financial aid institutions, as well as various health, heritage, education and art sectors receive the bulk of lottery benefits.  On a national UK scale, the lottery has contributed a massive £32 billion to a total of more than 430, 000 projects.  These figures are amazing when considering that over £53 billion has been paid out in prizing with more than 3, 600 millionaires created so far.

One winner joined in the celebrations in the form of song.  Tracy Tyler, a massive £5.8 million lotto winner from last year joined others from the Essex area to earmark the lotto’s 20th anniversary by recording a special song written to commemorate the National Lottery’s effort to change people’s lives.  In keeping with the theme of celebrating the anniversary at a venue that has received lottery aid, the organization chose the appropriate location of Southend YMCA’s Switch 2 Music Studio.  The Studio received funding to the extent of £59,064 in July of this year.  As gratitude the Studio wrote the special song to be recorded by various winners from the area.

The Switch 2 Music project at the YMCA offers free music tuition, composition advice, rehearsal and recording facilities, band development, performance experience, and lyric writing classes.  The project is aimed at 14 to 18 year olds who face exclusion from these facilities or schools due to education, employment, training or financial difficulties.

Tyler whose life herself was significantly changed with her UK Lotto win had this to say:

“While we still count our blessings every day for the win, I’m also mindful of how much our region has benefited from National Lottery funding.

"Being able to thank National Lottery players for their contribution to the many life changing projects that have been made possible across the length and breadth of the country over the last 20 years is wonderful. The song we have recorded is our way of saying a very special thank you; I hope players enjoy our efforts."

Tracy Tyler when she won her lucky lotto jackpot last year:

The Essex area forms part of the CM postcode district, joined by Harlow and Epping, with this area already receiving 388 prizes of £50, 000 paid out to local winners and a whopping 54 millionaires made.  These stats allows the CM postcode to rank 12th in the country for the most millionaires.  In terms of benefits, the lottery has played its communal part by aiding 6, 102 projects which benefitted from a total of £275 million, including a £2, 3 million grant for a multi-activity center at Harlow’s Mark Hall School.

Players who participate online, all do their part as well, seeing as those entries are included in the pool of funding.  So play lottery online from anywhere in the world and feel at ease as your money goes toward edging you a step closer to millionaire, financial freedom whilst simultaneously benefitted the community. makes sure that a huge portion of lottery earnings go to charity work around the world, that address many of the sectors mentioned above.  Playing lottery therefore could be seen as you playing your part in community enrichment, as well as potentially ‘enriching’ yourself as well (excuse the pun).
