Football fans were left breathless as Spain hammered Italy to win 4 – 0 in the final of the Euro 2012. In keeping with the Euro 2012 excitement we asked you back on the 4th June who YOU thought would win the tournament? 17% of you got it right!
On Sunday night Spain sent a resounding answer to all the critics who had dubbed them “boring” by emphatically destroying Italy in the final of the Euro 2012 tournament. This amazing victory saw Spain enter the history books:
- The first team to successfully defend a Euro Championship title
- The first team to win three consecutive major tournaments (Euro 2008, 2010 World Cup and Euro 2012)
- Spanish player, Torres, became the first player in history to score in two Euro Championship finals
- The final score saw the biggest winning margin for a final in the history of the European Championship
A well deserved group-hug for the Spaniards…

Before the tournament started we asked you who you thought would win the tournament. We had 96 predictions and it was clear that the favourite to take home the championship was Germany. Unfortunately for Germany and their fans they were unexpectedly knocked out of the tournament in the semi-finals by a more experienced Italian team. The long-running jinx of Germany being unable to beat the Italians in either the World Cup or the European Championship therefore continues.
Of the 96 predictions we received, 16 correctly named Spain as the team that would eventually take the Championship crown. Well done to all 16 of you – your free SuperEnaLotto voucher has been added to your account.
Best of luck when playing your SuperEnaLotto ticket, who knows, perhaps you too will be celebrating like the Spanish!
