When we think about sports we conjure up images of football, motor-racing, cricket, gymnastics and many more. When we think about animal sports we think about horse racing, polo or dog racing. We might even think about more controversial activities like bull fighting or dog fighting.
But think about it, if you were an animal, what sport would you prefer doing? Certainly not anything to do with fighting – that’s for sure. After doing some investigation into the matter we came across some light-hearted and amusing sports that animal athletes are getting very good at.

These guys know how to bring home the bacon, in Russia’s annual Pig Olympics. These piggies run races, paddle through small pools and work as a team chasing soccer balls all in the hope of winning.
These windsurfing mutts simply love being part of the gang and what might start off as a little scary quickly turns into enjoying the wind in your hair – because sometimes hanging your head out of the car window – just isn’t good enough.
Queenie, an Asian elephant was well known for waterskiing with her owner. She was extremely talented and stepped willingly into her skis. Once getting her balance they towed her out to sea where she would put her trunk in the water and get a big scoop of water and spray it all over the place! Another of Queenie's talents was playing the harmonica.
Ready, steady, slow
Snail races take place all over the world with these revered champions identified by a number, stuck on their back. They are then placed in the middle of a round, wooden table which is dampened with a water-spray. The first competitor to reach the outside is the winner.
