Get Lucky On The Lotto This St. Patrick’s Day

Will you find the pot of gold at the end of your lottery ticket this St. Patricks Day – March 17th? Find out more about this incredibly popular holiday with PlayHugeLottos.com.

Green – it’s not just the colour of money! Once a year on March 17th the Irish celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. This lucky Irish holiday has spread around the world to countries as diverse as the U.S.A, Argentina and even Japan.

A History Of St. Patrick’s Day

Although today it is considered a celebration of Irish culture, originally St. Patricks Day was a highly religious occasion. St. Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland and is credited with bringing the Christian faith to Ireland in the 4th Century AD (and on a lesser note, establishing the Leap Year tradition of women proposing to men).

Luck Of The Irish

St. Patrick's Day is still largely a spiritual day in Ireland, but across the world it has less religious symbolism and is seen in it’s more secular form as a day to celebrate all things Irish:

•    Wearing the colour green
•    Shamrocks (or four-leaf clovers)
•    Leprechauns
•    Irish beer and stout such as Guinness, Harp and Murphys
•    Good Fortune (The Luck of the Irish)

This sounds like the perfect day to play one of our ‘green’ colour-themed lotteries on PlayHugeLottos.com.

As St. Patrick’s Day falls on a Saturday this year why not give the Saturday Brazilian Mega-Sena lotto a try? The logo for this lottery features a lucky Irish four-leaf clover and hey, even the Brazilian flag is largely green as well.

The Luck Of The Irish

One story goes that when Irish immigrants arrived in North America centuries ago they had much luck prospecting for gold, with many becoming incredibly wealthy. Hence the connotations of the Irish with luck!  The world may be a very different place today (for example, there is not much luck in prospecting for gold anymore) but that does not mean that one cannot take advantage of this lucky Irish day to increase your own wealth.

Lotteries taking place on lucky St. Patricks Day that you may wish to test you luck on:

•    The UK Lottery
•    USA Powerball
•    Italian SuperEnaLotto

Everyone Is Irish On March 17th

Remember that ‘everyone is Irish’ on St. Patrick’s Day! In fact, the biggest celebration on St. Patrick’s Day does not occur in Ireland but in New York City, USA, with over 2 million spectators involved in the St. Patrick’s Day parade through the city.

Join in the fun this St. Patrick’s Day – wear some green and test out the luck of the Irish on any of the PlayHugeLottos.com lotteries on offer. Who knows, you might be getting a large amount of green added to your bank account very soon!

Tell us how you will be celebrating St. Patricks Day this March 17th and the best 3 answers will each win 5 FREE vouchers for the Mega-Sena lottery.

I will be celebrating St.Patrick's day with my family by first going to church, lighting 17 candles and a special prayer for peace and luck for the world. Then dressed in flashy costumes, I will gift home made cakes to my relatives, neighbours and close friend. Special gifts to my children and family . Then we will go out with green leafs and coloured flags, musical instruments to participate in the parade through the streets. Have a special lunch and dinner with plenty of beer and wines , dance throughout the day with music. Greet all the people we meet , wish them St. Patrick Days

Yes we will wear green on St Patrick's Day. Yes we will all have shamrocks somewhere secretly stashed away - but that's only green on the outside!Oi - but we are going to drink peppermint liqueur and cream soda to be green on the INSIDE while we sing Ireland's Call when Ireland defeat Engeland on Twickenham in the Six Nations.

I would probably invite all my short friends and dress them in green and get stylists to make them look identical to leprechauns. Afterwards, I'll call my teacher Mr. George Murphy and ask him if I can borrow his last name for the day and tell him that his smoking habits will be appreciated today and that he is very lucky to still be cancer-free because he's been smoking two packs a day for the last decades and that he probably has The Luck of The Irish. Then, I'll wear green glasses while watching the stock market to try to block off all my "Red" loses and hope that this is the day my dreams will come true and by "dream" I mean winning the five vouchers for the Mega-Sena lottery in hope to win my real dream (P.S. If I win don't hesitate to make my gift a 10 or a 20 voucher gift LOL) . Afterwards I will use a "green" dollar to buy a lotto ticket and then I'll just let my "leprechaun" friends do all the dishes and tell them that St. Patrick used to have leprechauns do his chores. Finally, after working them out for the whole day I feel that St. Patrick's day was a very lucky day for me indeed.

Seeing that I am Irish only once a year, and that is today, I am going to bank on the luck of the Irish and enter not one, but FOUR lotteries: one for each leave of the Clover.

Posted by Amarnath (17/03/2012)

I would celebrate St. Patrick's Day by attending parades, attending ceilidh, wearing shamrocks, wearing green, drinking and feasting on the traditional meal of bacon and cabbage, inviting a few friends over and have a St. Patrick's Day themed party.

March 17th known as St. Patrick’s day is celebrated throughout the world in commemoration of the fond memories of the great Saint who left his mortal coil on this day. He was the one who brought Christianity to Ireland. If only money was no constraint I would love to call my Christian friends ( Having retired from Oxfam (UK) I have a lot of them) for a grand feast with wine and food of the finest variety and to their liking in complete enormity and gay abandon with all decorations in gree and blue. And I will keep their good company with non-alcoholic wine and other drinks in the same way as I have down during get-togethers while at Oxfam. A good amount of winning from a lottery like the Mega Sena will more than suffice to meet such a beautiful extravaganza. Well wishing is one thing and happening is another. It will be God’s will to prevail for such dreams to come true.

It was not my best st.Patricks Day. I had big plans for Saturday but they never materialized. Was going to have a big party with family and friends but I lost my wallet with cash and documents. Celebration was canceled. Later, watching a NBA basketball game and keeping my fingers crossed for Boston Celtics. They lost the game. I hope you had a better weekend than me. Better luck to all.
