Big Jobs and Big Jackpots Comments Competition

A long time ago you were asked the question, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Can you remember your answer? Take your time, think about it.

In all likelihood, you probably thought about becoming a doctor, superhero or air-hostess. By the time you reached high school, superhero became rock-star and by the time you got to college things got more realistic and the pressure set in.

But with the world being so hyper-connected these days and no one really being able to stop and smell the roses, the tried and true professions that everyone pursues today could quickly become the thing of the past.

So what does the future hold? We took a look to suss out growing power professions of the future.

Logistician

Given the current global economy, companies are focussing more to streamline production and costs. How are they doing so? They are hiring logisticians to do it and with a salary of $71,910, logisticians have it pretty good. If you aren’t quite sure what a logistician does, then think back to when you go to the store. You know exactly where to find the shampoo, noodles and energy drinks. But how did it get there? This is where the logistician comes in. These professionals use complex computer software to track the movements of goods and products. They then come up with ideas on how to make the process more efficient. There are logisticians that are moving beyond physical goods and into the more technologically advanced defence world to work on things like pilot-less drones to driverless cars.

Actuary

Can you predict risk—down to the number?  An actuary can. These business professionals use math and statistics to analyze the financial consequences of risk for insurance companies, banks, consulting firms and the government. Wherever there is risk, there are opportunities for actuaries. So if you are a problem solver, love to travel and looking for one of the best paid salaries in world think no further that an Actuary.

I asked a couple of children what they would like to be when they grew up the other day and one little girl stood out from the rest:

As a child I liked to draw things so I dreamed about beeing a graphic artist. Now about 20 years later I have a full time job as a graphic artist, so yes, sometimes dreams come true.
