The Battle For The Oscar Begins

The nominees for the 86th Academy Awards were announced on January 16, 2014, at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills.

On the 2nd March this year, the 2014 Oscars will be taking Hollywood by storm. The race for best picture seems to come down to three main contenders: “American Hustle”, “Gravity” and “12 Years a Slave,” which have won the bulk of critical and industry awards so far.

Director Alfonso Cuaron's 3-D spectacle of an astronaut (Sandra Bullock) stranded in outer space and her struggle to return to Earth. It does have a happen ending but science fiction doesn’t usually do well at the Oscars.

American Hustle

A fictional crime drama about a reckless FBI agent who recruits a con man and his partner into a scheme to ensnare corrupt politicians and gangsters. This film defies genre, hinging on raw emotion, and life and death stakes.

12 Years a Slave

Brutal but brilliant. Set in the pre-Civil War United States, Solomon Northup, a free black man living in upstate New York, is abducted and sold into slavery. The film recounts how Solomon Northup, born a free man in New York, was lured to Washington in 1841 with the promise of fast money, then drugged and beaten and sold into slavery. He spent the next twelve years of his life in captivity on a Louisiana cotton plantation.

Just like the Oscars - have three huge lottery jackpots in race to see who will win these gigantic amounts.

I like the "OSCARS" theme. Brilliant concept to feature the leading jackpots of the world. PHL's campaign has scooped another cool idea for their marketing. Well done guys!
