One Of Our CWC 2011 Winners Tells Us About Their Trip!

One of the two lucky winners of our fantastic Cricket World Cup 2011 competition sent us an email telling us about the experience he and his wife enjoyed last month. enjoy his account below along with some pictures of their trip.

What a wonderful weekend we had and all due to

On Saturday afternoon, the 19th  March we received a call, whilst driving into the gates of the Satara Camp in the Kruger National Park, with the news that we were one of the finalists to go to the ICC Final in India, checking that we had valid passports.

On Tuesday I received another call to congratulate us on being the winners. Joyce and I were booked on Emirates on our way to Mumbai via Dubai and arrived on schedule on Friday morning for the experience of a lifetime.

As avid cricket supporters we were set to experience a final that we could only have dreamt of. South Africa where not in contention and my wife’s team England also were eliminated but we were set to see India and Sri Lanka square up for the final.

Imagine our surprise when we learnt that not only was our prize two nights in the Taj Mahal Palace but that both the teams were also staying there. Security was tight but we casually bumped into the players at various times during the weekend.

We were fetched and carried by Voyager during the week end. On Saturday we were ready for the game but were told we could not take cameras into the stadium so we could not capture the excitement on film.

We were queuing and there was a real buzz of excitement most people were India supporters and finding out that we from South Africa they wanted to know who we were going to support. The game was fantastic, Sri Lanka put a very respectable score and it was up to India to perform at their best, which they did.

The excitement leaving the stadium was unbelievable, hundreds of little fiat cars with 8 or 10 people hanging of it were celebrating and this carried on till 3 – 4 on Sunday morning. We spent our Sunday sight seeing and I have included some photos below.

Our SAA flight left at 02h00 on Monday morning and we back home 7 hours later.

We still amazed when watching replays of the game or the IPL that we were there! A very big thank you to for having a competition like this.
