When Robert Thomas was told by the store owner who sold him his lottery ticket that he had won, Robert didn’t believe him or that he was a Powerball winner. He wasn’t sure whether David Eicher, owner of Fas Chek where the ticket was purchased, was telling him the truth or merely joking around. He wasn’t joking though. Robert had bought the ticket that made him $2 million richer, and it would have been half that amount if he hadn’t doubled his entries into the last moment.
The store owner is also a winner because he gets $20,000 for selling the winning ticket, so they were both over the moon with the news. The sum will make a huge difference to how Robert lives and how he’ll live for the rest of his life.
On receiving the money, he revealed that him and his wife Mary have both worked hard all their lives and have had health problems. So knowing that they can easily pay the bills and have that financial security for the rest of their lives was a very big deal for them both. It shows how much this kind of win can change lives for the better. The pair are now the newest millionaires in West Virginia, and will be looking forward to their future.
Robert has had a lot of luck recently; he was also a winner of a place on a Power Cruise earlier in the year having played the lottery. And he’s hoping to ride the wave of good luck by carrying on buying tickets for other Powerball draws in the future, and who could blame him with luck like that?
These stories are always nicer when you see people who can really benefit from the money winning big prizes, and that’s certainly the case here. Robert and Mary will be able to use that money in so many positive ways, and if his luck continues the way it has been, it might not be his last win either. The winning numbers that night were 19, 21, 27, 46 and 47, with a Powerball of 7. The only downside is that Robert says he immediately forgot what he went to the store for when he found out he’d won $2 million.
Oh well, now he has enough money to pay someone to go shopping for him, Lamborghini anyone?
