Let’s get to know the lotteries that could make you a millionaire.
- Mega Millions
- SuperEna Max:
What is it?
Mega Millions is a massive American lottery, but like most games that started in the USA, it didn’t always have this name. Originally launched in 1996, Mega Millions went by the name The Big Game and ticket sales were only available in a few US States. Back then, draws only took place once a week every Friday.
Luckily for us, in 2002 this game was given a makeover. The Big Game was renamed Mega Millions, ticket sales included more states and draw days happened twice a week, every Tuesday and Friday.
How do you play?
The Mega Millions lottery makes use of two separate ball sets. The first ball set contains the main numbers ranging from 1 - 70. The second set contains the Mega Balls ranging from 1 - 25. Players then choose 5 main numbers and 1 Mega Ball.
To win the jackpot players need to match all 6 drawn numbers as they appear. The biggest jackpot won to date is a massive $656 million USD, won in March 2012.
What is it?
SuperEna Max is the love-child of SuperEnaLotto. Established in 2014, SuperEna Max guarantees high jackpots week after week. With jackpots starting around the €100 million mark, players know that they’re in for life-changing cash prizes.
How can you play?
As SuperEna Max is inspired by SuperEnaLotto, the structure of the games are the same, although the prizes are substantially bigger. Players simply need to select 6 numbers ranging from 1 - 90. And then you’re entered!
What is Powerball?
If there’s a name that most lottery players know, it’s Powerball. But did you know it didn’t always have this name? This game originally started in 1988 and went by the name ‘Lotto America’. In 1992 it was given a facelift when it was renamed Powerball, with the first ever Powerball draw being held on April 19th, 1992.
How do you play this game?
Much like Mega Millions, Powerball uses two machines to draw numbers. These are often referred to as the white numbers and the others the powerballs. Players need to select 5 numbers from 1 - 69 from the white numbers and 1 number from 1 - 26 from the powerballs.
Like the other jackpots you read about, if you match all 6 numbers you win the massive jackpot.
Powerball currently holds the record for the biggest jackpot ever offered, a gigantic $1.6 billion USD in January 2016!
Things to keep in mind when playing
Not every jackpot is won on every draw day. No matter how many people enter to win the massive amounts available, sometimes the number combinations are so unique that there is no jackpot winner and the jackpot prize rolls over. When this does happen, there are still secondary winners. So if you entered to win the jackpot, and there is no jackpot winner, there are still secondary prizes available for those who matched some but not all the drawn numbers.
