Two people have recently experienced the thrill of becoming a EuroMillions lotto millionaire. Catherinette and Willian Mullarkey are from Coventry, in England, and they’re celebrating their £1 million win in the EuroMillions draw that took place on the 4th of July.
They received the amazing news via email, so you can imagine that because most people are very cautious these days due to scammers, they thought the email telling them they were millionaires was a scam.
The EuroMillions winners had just got back from a lovely holiday in St Lucia, where Catherinette comes from. They came home to the superb news when they checked their email and saw something from the National Lottery. They thought it was just an advertisement at first, but their granddaughter, Celia, thought better of it. She encouraged them not to throw the email into the spam folder and instead told them to read further. They did so, and that’s when they realised that their ticket had matched the millionaire maker code!
William, age 57, also known as “Bill”, said they “couldn’t mentally process the figure that came up on the screen.” Like many other lottery winners, they assumed their win was something small like £10,000 or £100,000. They only found out actually how big it was when they phoned the National lottery to inform them that they received the email.
When they were told the real amount they had won, there was a long silence between the two of them which was soon followed by loud screaming and dancing. They decided to calm down and process the news with a warm cup of tea.
As one can imagine, the nights that followed were sleepless as the win couldn’t sink in for the winning couple yet. Their main priority is to help an injured relative with their winnings. Messiah Philip, one of their family members, is sadly paralysed from the waist down after she was involved in a tragic bike accident in St. Lucia two months ago. They will be helping her pay for the changes to her house that will be needed in order for Messiah to get around easily. They also want to buy her an adapted car so she can get around on her own.
The other plans they have for spending their winnings, includes paying off their mortgage, building a new home in St. Lucia and spoiling their closest family and friends with presents. Both of the EuroMillions lotto winners work as chefs, but they plan to take a break from work for a little while as they focus on their new future.
