Some of the globe’s fiercest skaters have taken to the ice to compete in the 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship between the 3rd and the 19th May 2013.
The 2013 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship is taking place at the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm.
Each team gets to play each opponent once, and for those not in the know, sides are awarded three points if they win a game, one point if they tie and no points if they lose.
Last year the Russians dominated the event from the first puck drop in Stockholm until their celebrations in Helsinki when they clinched the championship title. They beat Slovakia 6-2 in the final game.

Friday night saw Switzerland beat Sweden 3-2 with Martin Gerber making 29 saves and Matthias Bieber and Nino Niederreiter scoring second-period goals.
The Czech Republic are aiming to get back into the gold medal game for the first time since 2010. Always dangerous contenders they shot to victory in a 2-0 victory over Belarus. Redim Vrbata and Jakub Voraced scored and Alexander Salak stopped 21 shots.
Sunday night the reigning champions, Russia beat Germany 4-1 and now tops the Helsinki-based preliminary round group with six points from two wins, while Germany remains sixth in the standings with one point earned in a 4-3 overtime defeat to Finland.
