Chelsea Books Place In Final - Have You?

Last night Chelsea taught the football world a very important lesson about beating the odds and never giving up. Follow their example by making sure you are in for the running with our spectacular Grand Champions competition.

Down 1 – 0 thanks to a goal from Sergio Busquets, Chelsea appeared to have hit the end of the road after captain John Terry was sent off for a cynical off-the-ball challenge on Alexis Sanchez. Things got quickly worse after a skilful through-ball from Lionel Messi setup Andries Iniesta for a perfectly placed and clinical finish to make it 2 – 0.

Even though they were down, Chelsea were never out. Just as the floodgates appeared to be about to open Frank Lampard’s perfectly weighted pass bisected the Barcelona defence to put Ramirez through on goal where he only needed a single touch to chip the ball over Victor Valdez and make it 2 – 1 on the stroke of half-time.

Barcelona came roaring out of the gates and started the 2nd half with a heightened tempo which resulted in Drogba being adjudged to have pulled down a Barcelona player in the box. The referee instantly pointed to the penalty spot where Messi, who seemed to have been caught up in the atmosphere, very uncharactaristically struck his penalty onto the cross-bar.

The missed penalty from Messi seemed to steele the Chelsea side who under enormous pressure where able to endure a 75% - 25% possession ratio for much of the 2nd half. Chelsea’s determination and ‘never say die’ attitude culminated in the dream goal as Fernando Torres calmly rounded the keeper to make it 2 – 2 at full time.

Jogo do Chelsea contra o Barcelona

Last night’s draw has secured Chelsea a spot in the final (albeit missing some of their star players) and the only two questions now remaining are:

1) Will it be Bayern Munich or Real Madrid to face Chelsea in the Champions League final?

2) Will you and your partner be in the stadium cheering on your team?
