The weekend draws of the international lotteries featured here on PlayUKinternet.com came up pretty empty handed – a very unlikely event here no doubt – but this by no means is a negative. In fact, an event that increases the cash prizes on offer could only be advantageous – it’s about time we saw some of the legendary hundred million jackpots again. And true to its nature, the US Powerball demonstrates how it’s done with a whopping $150 million first prize, Mega Millions is keeping it cool just $2 mil shy of $50 million and SuperLotto Plus is pushing through on a $53 million wave. Who knows if there’ll be a winner this week, but you can make sure you have a chance by entering your favourite lucky numbers.
Depending on how lucky your lotto selection is, you could be riding high with a $150 million Powerball jackpot busting out of your bank account by the weekend, to do with what you wish! If you’re anything like the eccentric and entertaining Nicholas Cage, you’ll blow through it in no time. Admittedly he has the resources, having earned a fat salary of $40 million per annum, with a total of $150 million between 1996 and 2011.
Here’s how he spent it all:
True to the nature of a gentleman with a few extra dollars to spend, Cage gathered within the depths of his garage a set of sports cars and motor cycles to make even the least enthusiastic motor person green with envy. The collection at its peak included 9 Rolls Royces, a $1 million Ferrari Enzo, a rare $500,000 Lamborghini and an array of luxury and high end vehicles.
But everyone knows when you’re rolling in the dough owning a garage full of luxury cars is the tip of the iceberg. Cage made a good effort with his set of four luxury yachts – one was valued at $20 million and included 12 master bedrooms. Bet he misses that one!
Where else would you traverse in your luxury yacht than to the private island? Cage decided to go with the very attractive Paradise Island mansion in Nassau to get warmed up, then ventured 85 miles south of Nassau to a 40-acre private island which he promptly purchased all for himself. He did spend $7 million on it, so we understand his hesitancy to share this luxury with anyone else.

Along with his Paradise Island mansion, Cage owned a collection of homes all over the world – 15 in total. His property portfolio included an English castle to the value of $8 million, which he’s never even slept in, a second castle in Bavaria, because well, we know how much he liked the first one…a $17.5 million palace in Bel Air, two mansions in New Orleans, a $10 million Malibu beach house, a mansion in Las Vegas and a 24,000 square foot home in Rhode Island. You'd need a Powerball jackpot to come close to owning any of these stunning properties!
To top off the expenditures, Cage purchased a $30 million Gulfstream Private Jet – every high-rolling celebrity owns at least one and Cage wasn’t about to allow himself to fall behind. Good thing he did, too – it makes a great trade in tight financial times!
