A Romantic Result For The Tuesday Euromillions Jackpot

Today, the 14th February, is celebrated in many places around the world as St. Valentine’s Day. The day on which people show extra care and attention (often in the form of gifts) to the ones they love. It is therefore perhaps fitting that Euromillions recently featured a theme of romantic, young love!

22 year old Cassey Carrington and her partner Matt Topham, both from Nottingham in the UK, won last week’s Tuesday EuroMillions rollover jackpot. The young couple took home a whopping £45,160,170.50 (the seventh-largest jackpot ever won in the UK) just in time for their wedding, planned for September 2012!

Euromillions No Stranger To Big UK Winners

Euromillions has certainly seen its fair share of giant lottery winners, including many from the UK.

  • The last big UK winners were Gareth and Catherine Bull who took home £40,627,241 on the 20th January EuroMillions draw.
  • Last year, Scottish couple, Colin and Chris Weir, scooped the biggest-ever EuroMillions prize paid to a UK winner. The couple won the Tuesday EuroMillions draw after it had rolled over 14 times to reach the staggering £161 million.


Since the launch of the Tuesday EuroMillions draw on the 1 May 2011 the second weekly draw has definitely been a lucky one.


Young Love Wins Big On The Euromillions

While searching for a used replacement for her washing machine on the internet Cassey decided to double check the Tuesday EuroMillions results on her mobile phone.

"I checked the numbers against the ones there, but it wasn't sinking in that they were the same," she said.

When they were asked about their immediate reaction to their jackpot win, Cassey was quoted as saying “"The first thought was how much we could help our families."

She said she wanted to buy an Aston Martin motor car and to build a new house with the winnings, while Mr Topham said he planned to learn to fly.
